Abuja, Nigeria — 2 June 2026
Flow With Pride Impact Hub (FWPIH), in partnership with the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Foundation and the Gender Unit of the Nigerian Correctional Service Headquarters, commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 with a visit to the Suleja Correctional Centre, where the organisation engaged female inmates in conversations on menstrual health, hygiene, dignity, and self-care.
The outreach, which marked the first phase of FWPIH's World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 activities, brought together the leadership of the correctional centre, correctional officers, and female inmates in a session designed to create a safe and supportive space for learning and encouragement.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, FWPIH described the experience as deeply impactful and humbling, noting that menstrual dignity is a right for every woman and girl, regardless of her circumstances. The organisation reiterated that incarceration should not strip women of access to basic information and supplies necessary for their menstrual health and wellbeing.
The session featured a presentation by menstrual health advocate and educator Christopher Favour Oluchi, who delivered what attendees described as a powerful and inspiring address, sharing knowledge and words of encouragement with the women in attendance.
Beyond the dialogue, FWPIH distributed sanitary pads and other essential hygiene supplies to support the menstrual health needs of the inmates, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to combining advocacy with direct, practical support.
The Suleja outreach forms part of a broader programme of activities under FWPIH's World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 commemoration. The organisation's next engagement, an official World Menstrual Hygiene Day Commemoration Event, was scheduled to take place at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja, continuing conversations around building a more informed, inclusive, and period-friendly world.
Flow With Pride Impact Hub extended its appreciation to its partners, supporters, and all who contributed to making the Suleja Correctional Centre outreach possible.
